What people mean by that when they say it is that DeVos often has a personal persona that you may see if you meet her face to face, and then she also has a political persona that you may come in contact with if you ever stand between her and getting some part of her political agenda accomplished.

 

The political Betsy DeVos is a woman on a mission. She is the kind of person that you do not want to make angry, because she only becomes more effective when she is angry. Where some may spout off and become less effective when upset, Betsy hones in her energy and unleashes it on any opponents of her proposals and ideas.

 

DeVos is now the Secretary of Education in the Trump Administration. It was a role that was not exactly easy for her to secure. She had a tied fifty to fifty vote on the floor of the Senate, and that meant that she had to have the Vice President (Mike Pence) vote in favor of her in order to break the tie and allow her to assume the job that she has now. She was not fazed by this in the least. In fact, she had to work hard to make sure that she secured a favorable vote like this in the first place. She has indeed done just that.

 

Those who are fearful about things such as charter schools are definitely shaking in their boots at the thought that Betsy DeVos is now the one in charge of so much educational policy for this country. She has always been an advocate for charter schools, and there are no signs that she is backing down from that position. In fact, it appears that she is pushing forward proposals for more charter schools throughout the country. Not only that, but she is now in a greater position of power than she ever was before when she was just coming up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. You can expect for better or for worse that she is going to have a lot of impact on educational policy for years to come.

When Jeff Herman went to law school he did so to become a commercial litigator. He started his own law firm, Herman Law, where he represented companies of all sizes in legal matters that he would either negotiate settlements for or represent the company during the trial. He was very good at this, he says, but he came to realize over time that it wasn’t a very gratifying career to have.

 

Twenty years ago Herman’s professional life completely shifted. Jeff Herman says that married couple came into his law office seeking his help. Their son, who was age four and autistic, came home from his preschool and said that somebody there had touched his “pee-pee”. This person was “Mr. Dan” and it turns out he was a volunteer who had never had his background checked. If this Florida preschool had checked they would have found out he had been convicted in California as a pedophile. It turns out that 20 children had been sexually abused by “Mr. Dan”.

 

Jeff Herman says that this case caused him to switch from being a commercial litigator to being a lawyer who represents victims of sexual crimes like rape and sexual assault. He says that he makes sure organizations are held legally responsible when the people they are supposed to be responsible caring for are instead the victim of a sexual crime. Jeff Herman files lawsuits in criminal courts in order to ensure these crimes don’t go unpunished and those who are responsible are held accountable.

 

He says that Parents Need To Be Champions of their children. He says it is critical for parents to talk to their kids about sexual predators and the crimes they commit. Children need to know they can tell their parents if they are touched by someone in a way that made them feel uncomfortable no matter who it is. He says that these conversations should be kept at an age-appropriate level. Jeff Herman says children should know the names of their body parts, for example, but young children don’t need to be told about their sexual use.

OSI Food Solutions Scoops the Globe of Honour Award in 2016

OSI Food Solution UK had the honour to lift the British Safety Council Award known as Globe of Honour Award. This is due to their excellent organisation of the environmental risks in the year 2016. The globe of Honour Award had presented eighteen organisations that had succeeded in ecological conservation. For a company to qualify to be among the list of contestants of the award, they must meet a maximum of five starts in an audit scheme carried out by the environmental British Safety Council for the year ended. The Environmental Manager of OSI Food Solutions, Kelly Grimwood, received the Award from the Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, Mike Robinson. A new production hall, facility supplies storage, shipping and receiving areas, refrigerated rooms, hot water and nitrogen tanks among other buildings were added to improve the look and efficiency of the industry.
