The Chainsmokers are one of the leading DJ duos in the world with their following growing by the day because of their regular releases and catchy sound. The combination of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart has been in place as The Chainsmokers since 2012 when the latter made the decision to move from his home in Maine to New York City. Pall had already found fame in New York as a DJ of note who was booked every weekend to perform at various events and was looking to take the next step in developing his career.
Luckily, Pall and Taggart shared a management company which allowed them the opportunity to meet and embarks on a collaboration shaking the electronic dance music sector to its core. Not only are The Chainsmokers building a global following of fans, but they are also standard bearers for those who wish to develop their career in a more rounded way to the early pioneers of electronic dance music who played little role in the songs they released. In many ways, The CHainsmokers have become the guiding lights for DJs and producers who are hoping to follow them to chart success.
One of the biggest steps taken by Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart is to step out from behind the decks and to the microphone to sing on their own songs. The single, “Closer” was the first step in moving into the sector of vocals with the decision to sing alongside the artist Halsey showed the confidence the pair have in their abilities. Since the release of their debut album, “Memories… Do Not Open”, The Chainsmokers have been working to put together a live band to bring more fans into their world. KNowing vocalists such as Halsey would not be available each night to sing their parts on different tracks resulted in a rethink for Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart about how they would perform. The duo believes their ability to perform in larger venues than their Las Vegas DJ residency requires a live band and their own ability to perform live.
The Chainsmokers band famously recognized for its good electronic dance music has continued to expand, and its audience grow. This comes with the vital roles played by the two DJs; Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart who have gone beyond just DJing by actively involving themselves in the dance music as true artists with thoughts and feelings as opposed to other DJs. Alex Pall and Taggart are working each day to reveal themselves to their audience, a step that has instilled tension and intimacy into the genre that is often emotionless and sterile. However, in an interview, we spoke to Alex Pall and Taggart about they are establishing their identity, the new track they released and how they are planning to evolve as their audience grows.
Alex Pall highlights that he grew up with the passion of being a DJ and this has seen him do his job around New York earlier in his carrier. He was introduced to Taggart whom he started working with by his manager then who is still currently their manager when he was working at the art gallery. He acknowledges that he was pretty optimistic that his reunion with Taggart would work and be a success basing on the fact that they both had a common goal. Alex points out that their mutual relationship towards a common goal and ambitions contributed immensely towards success. With Taggart being more in music producing and him being much into DJing, they worked together every day on creating their identity as artists and on music. Alex Pall says that consistency and self-discovery are what has seen them become great artists.
They do write and sing songs about their own life in with the help of other songwriters and right about now Alex Pall talks about the album they are planning to launch very soon. There is a lot of pressure especially from their demanding fans and they not only planning to release a general album but something that will hit and be outstanding. He acknowledged that Halsey is an artist whom they enjoyed working with the previous year because she is a unique artist with best vocals. With the help of social media platforms, they have been able to reach out their music to many people across the globe.
